Understanding Manual Mode

Ready to take your photography to the next level?

Learn how to create stunning, intentional images by mastering the three pillars of photography: ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed.

This hands-on workshop is designed to help you:

  • Gain confidence shooting in manual mode
  • Understand how the exposure triangle and creativity work together
  • Develop a mindful approach to capturing the perfect shot
  • When: 9:00am to 3:00pm Saturday 29th March 2025

What to bring:

  •  DSLR or mirrorless camera with manual mode
  • One or more lenses with a range of focal lengths and apertures (particularly f1.4 and
    f2.8)
  • Laptop and Cord to download images
  • Tripod
  • Notebook and pen

Painting

Fresh Approaches to Painting

Saturday & Sunday
12th – 13th April 2025

This painting workshop over two days will explore paint application, composition, mark making and colour while looking at the themes of landscape and still life. Participants will be encouraged to explore and develop a personal direction towards one genre or explore more with Jellena’s guidance.
In this workshop, you will be encouraged to utilise spontaneous and dynamic compositions as well as vibrant colour combinations.
Jellena will give demonstrations as well as give participants time to practice and experiment.
This workshop will inspire you to see new possibilities and personalised interpretations of everyday subjects in your artmaking.

Outline (10am – 2pm each day)
Day 1 will utilise mixed medias inc acrylic, charcoal and pastels to explore layering, colour mixing and traditional / non-traditional approaches to create several ‘base’ layer artworks. Participants will be experimenting on various surfaces, as well as recording experiments in a ‘Visual Diary’.

Day 2 will use the immediate environment to draw still life and/or landscape sketches to use for second layer ‘Subject matter’. Applying various layers of charcoal, oil stick, pastel and acrylic using traditional and non-traditional materials.

Most art materials will be provided include various acrylic paints, canvas pads, pastels, oil sticks, papers, charcoal, brushes, visual diary and other non-traditional materials.

Cost: $190 including materials

What to bring:

  • pencil
  • eraser
  • 2 x glass jars with lids(water jars)
  • examples/ images of their own artworks/ inspirational images
  • own/existing paints and brushes
  • rags for cleaning.
